Starbucks has been targeted by pranksters potentially seeking payback for the company’s pro-immigration stance.
Social tiles promoting “Starbucks Dreamer Day” are doing the rounds of Twitter, Facebook and other social media. They claim the company will provide undocumented US immigrants a 40% discount off the price of a coffee tomorrow (Friday, August 11).
Sadly for under-caffeinated illegals, the ads, the day and the discount aren’t real.
Last January, Starbucks was in the headlines for a statement in response to President Donald Trump’s executive actions tightening immigration. Its former CEO said the company supported the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, and he vowed to hire 10,000 refugees.
Trump supporters began a #BoycottStarbucks campaign in response.
Starbucks has taken to Twitter to try to prevent the spread of the event, responding individually to users who are relaying the false information.
